Hi Norm, good to swap posts with you.
I accept that the floating bush big end is problem if/when oil pressure drops (stripped oil pump worm) but I don't think we have as many main bearing and broken piston issues on the old iron engines in the UK as you do. Why is that - is it the temperature out there, or something else?
Honestly though, as much as I like my BMW the truth is that I can't wait to buy the new Conti GT - how do you think they will be accepted out in AUS Norm?

Hi Stu, out here hotter temps and too many straight good condition roads, but as Leon always says oil temp is never high even up in QLD so I'm not sure that the hotter conditions should come into play, oils these days should compensate for that. These bikes ridden in the same manner once they have a roller and a decent piston don't give trouble. As for the cafe racer and how it will be accepted is a bit of an unknown but the owners of these will be a complete new breed, pretty much the same as the owners of UCE's out here. Most are younger and have little interest in the maintenance side of things. We have them in the Club but very rarely see them and one of the reasons we have a lot of them in the Club is because any new purchaser of a UCE gets 12 months Club membership. Most drop out after membership expires and they are never heard of again. What we do have is a glut of UCE's always for sale but these days few cast irons. There is always the odd Electra that sits for sale in the classifieds for 12 months or more

Hi guy all things must end got to the boarder and was hassled from all sides then was told that even that I had insurance from my company to cover me in morroco I would have to buy the local insurance for 50 euros ! That plus the feeling I was out of my comfort zone made me turn back got back to the ferry point and was stopped by the police and both me and the bike were searched the bike was pulled apart when they had finished they said thank you and let me put it all back together the bracket to the headlight has still not been found thank goodness for insulation tape then I was told that I did not have a return ticket what ! I showed them the receipt after much hand waving I was allowed back on the ferry I have had a fantastic. Time but have come to the conclusion that exotic travel is best left to Australian surfer dudes not 60 year old fairys now after 21 day tomorrow to a luxury apartment for 7 day then fly home the bike is being picked up and brought back to the uk by courier for £ 320 thanks for looking the enfield never missed a beat in a total of 3186 miles regards mr h
