When comparing the standard speedometer to the speed shown on a gps, it appears my speedometer is wildly optimistic: 80 kmph is only 67 kmph in reality.
I found a very nice digital speedometer with Hall sensor by Daytona, but it costs more than 200 euro with sending costs, not counting import tax for Norway.
This is the cheapest VDO bicycle speedometer, non-wireless. I mounted it as on a bicycle, but used a big magnet which I "mounted" (magnetism just holds it there) on the rim. Works perfectly.
I now have a clock, a precise speedometer, and a day trip meter.
This is maybe not the most elegant solution on a Bullet (highly anachronistic), but my bike is not a "Sunday motorcycle" or a thing of beauty, but a daily commuter (180 km per day).

One thing puzzles me: why is the speedometer of my Electra 10% optimistic when odometer is bang on?

Hi, jojje the odometer is operated by mechanical gearing but the speedo part is operated by magnetism. NicoV be careful as the forces involved in a spinning wheel may overcome the magnet's power and your'll have a projectile. Vince.

Thanks, Vince! I knew there was a simple and logical explanation.

I didn't know there was magnetism involved in a mechanical speedometer.
@Vince
I used the strongest magnet I could get on banggood.com. About 4-5 mm thick, and it does take quite some force to remove it, but yes, what you say could happen.
I the same magnets on the oil drain plugs.
