In partial answer to you more general question concerning electrical tools, I've never trusted crimp connectors and always solder all of my electrical connectors.
So, if you planning on getting into motorcycle electrickery - and Enfield ownership may, occasionally, give you no choice - I'd recommend springing for a decent soldering iron.
There was a time when Weller made decent soldering irons, but that is no longer the case, IMO. These days, I favour Antex. An Antex XS25 won't break the bank.
