The Electra X that I tuned had no mods to the standard ports. I raised the compression to 9.2:1, fitted double valve springs and 'S' cams and the upgraded [not green] CDI box, I also tried 32,34 and 36 mm carbs on the dyno. The 36 gave the most power throughout the rev range, even low revs, the bike topping out at just over 100 mph when tested [erm I meant 60 mph, officer], the power reached 33.4 bhp at the rear wheel at 6,000 rpm.

Eek! I'd feel nervous (like a Christian Scientist with appendicitis) on a bullet at the ton. Did you keep the standard con rod?

Hi Simon,
It was all pretty standard, even the mirrors were still on the handlebars, but it had an earsplitting exhaust on it for the power and speed achieved, but it still made 32 bhp with a 'Goldie' silencer fitted. The handling and braking felt fine to me, the whole ride being very simillar to my Honda CB500T [a stump pulling machine of simillar performance]. I saw the conrod when the top end was off and thought it looked pretty strong and the big end took some terrible stick in the time I played around with the bike, seeing engine speeds of up to 7,000 rpm, but the mileage I added was probably not that great.
Paul.

BW - I was actually worried as many say that the Lower end of Enfields are not that reliable also I heard from Basanti that the lower end of Electra is pretty strong compared to other enfields so that means.. by doing the carb job, head porting and some free flow exhaust and airfilter.. it won't hurt the lower end? Because I am having a hard time in real, cannot afford cams and other stuff at moment. I wanted to buy the "S" cams but few weeks back had a mass layoff at work. So I am in running in economy mode now. Since the other stuff I bought already.. I can go ahead with those. I can get the heads ported tho, my friend will do that for free :)
