If you want to easily and accurately check the float height, simply buy a spare drain plug, drill the centre and and fit a hose tail.

Fit a length of clear hose to it, attach it to the carb and bend it into a U-shape alongside the carb. The level of fuel in the hose will be the same as in the float bowl.

That is float height, fuel level in the bowl is a different measurement.

Say 24 mm of float hieght is the measurement of the float arm to the gasket surface , it has nothing to do with fuel in the bowl level.

The fuel level is set by the float hieght. They are completely different meaurements.
You measure float hieght from the bottom of the float to the bottom of the carb gasket surface with the carb upside down. The fuel hight is fom the bottom of the carb gasket surface to the top of the fuel. Entirely different measurement.

Hi totally agree they are different but surely one equates to the other, get the float height correct and the fuel level will also be correct,I would rather have a visual guide to correct fuel level so I know if required which way to tweak the float height to get this , also I can if required do this with carb still on the bike

The float height should equate to a fuel level yes-- the fuel height is not much used any more. At one time floats could be repaired ( I can still buy small round individual floats in old bike shops) the amount of solder increases the weight of the float. Meaning float level was more accurate than float height.

Sometimes a spit back through the carb can collapse the float, it can be severe enough to render the float un'floatable. My Suzuki intruder 1400 would do this.

Please explain how you can tweak the float height with the carb still on the bike????

On my Monoblock I would remove the side cover pull out the float and adjust the tang depending on which way I want to change the fuel level,or was this some sort of trick question
