Sorry to start a new thread, as it's quite related to my last one, but I need to prick your ears up anew. Apologies.

It would appear that I need a new starter relay for my 2012 EFI Bullet. To be exact, this model: PART No. 581171
http://accessories.hitchcocksmotorcycles.com/22948
As you can see, it has molded in cables.

The only model that I can readily get my hands on through a friend here is this one: PART No. 146242
http://accessories.hitchcocksmotorcycles.com/2720

Could I cut the ends off my current relay 581171 and hook it up to 146242?

Thanks guys and BR

Personally I would prefer a relay with proper bolt-on connections. It will make future servicing and possible replacement easier from a wider choice. Just be sure to use good heavy eyes on the cable and solder them.

Nice tip, thanks Eric. I'll do that.
Yes, I don't like the molded in system either.

Bit of an aside, but the wiring on this bike was very shoddy from the factory. Dry electrical tape everywhere. Looked like something we would've done on our mopeds as 14-yr-olds. Really did not inspire confidence for the future, but it's taken 7 years now for something to finally fail.

Hello again friends.
So, I've got myself the relay with the terminal connectors. Now for the hard part...

I'm a complete beginner at this sort of thing, so please be gentle!

Can anyone tell me which terminal is which - L + R, as seen on the photo - and what the white and the blue cables are?

Many thanks and virtual beers all round.

OK! Just to report finally that it went perfectly with bit of cable snipping, terminal crimping and a brand new battery. Luckily the old one was still under guarantee.
Just got back from a 100km spin in the country and so time for a cuppa.
Thanks for the help ;-)
