Hi,
Sometime since I was last in here, but needs must!
My 2000 year, Bullet 500, recently recomissioned, is trying my patience. Another check this afternoon. I have concluded that the AC output is good, up to 40v at the connector to the Reg/Rec. but immediately beyond the reg/reg block connector it drops to 3v and 5/6v. Something is causing a short or voltage drop. The two other wires from the reg/reg connector are Earth, and a yellow/red, reg/rec output to the ammeter. This last wire reads 12.34v steady, and the same at the battery, rising to no more than 12.50v--12.70v.
Ammeter hardly moves on + side.
Voltage to the new Motobatt seems lowly.
Question is; What could be causing this voltage drop, possible short, on the AC to Reg/Rec feed I wonder?
The above is with a new Chinese full wave 2 phase reg/rec fitted. Cheapo, as recommended here.
New rotor/stator.
Air gap fine.
Headlight circuit ok.
New Swiss reg/rec, no better and was shorting to the frame, with very small sparks. Binned this.
Original RE combo reg/reg shows same symptons as Chinese reg/rec.
