Hi folks, was chasing the usual leak in the chaincase and had a play with my clutch. Seems quite a lot of play in the drum.

video here (hopefully) https://youtu.be/Khqar6YVoow

How much is normal?

What do you think?

Usual occasional drag when hot and a difficulty in going down from 3rd to 2nd which I've put down to the box rather than clutch.

That's pretty normal Dave. Do you the ball bearing ring in the clutch centre or the plain bearing? If the ball bearing type I'd say normal, if you think about it the contact area of those tiny balls is miniscule. And it always looks worse with the plates out. As you say, gear selection problems are in the box, check the inner ratchet on the selector and if you can, try a replacement I find selective assembly at this point really helps.

Thanks Mark, yes it's a ball bearing ring.

I'll have a look inside the box, first for me. I have a few gearbox parts spare so hopefully.....

Thanks Papasmurf for embedding the video.

Does anyone know the thread size on the oil level/drain plug?

My thread is a little ropey and was going to helicoil it.

Thanks

Dave
