I have been having a bit of trouble with adjusting the rear brake, then I remembered advice given by some kind person some time ago when they posted about the old Enfield rear brake plate has a 'floating' pivot which adjust the brake pressure as it is applied and that it regularly needs to be checked and adjusted. I was glad to find that this type of rear brake plate on my Electra is the same as those made 80 years ago. So just to remind folk that you may need to take the brake plate pivot apart. You will find an elongated hole for the pivot tube with two slots for the mounting screws. Clean it all up apply a small amount of grease on the bearing surfaces, refit the two screws (one is the anchor for the brake arm return spring) and tighten but only as much as to allow the pivot housing to slide, then tighten up the lock nuts.
