I want to insure a 15 yr old second Enfield that will only do club runs and sunny days less than a thousand miles a year, I have to insure it to get an MOT before I think about riding it, but I've been getting quotes for more than my new Enfield. Ive tried all the usual company's who want silly money, even REOC Footman James wanted a huge amount. Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced insurance company. Thanks.

You don't say what kind of quotes you are getting. Your age and driving record is also a big factor of course.
I am with Ebike but that's a multibike/two rider policy.

Carole Nash are worth a try, even though they are not always the cheapest you do get breakdown cover included which may be useful. I have got a multi bike policy for 2016 Honda NC750X, 2004 Enfield Bullet and 1971 Honda CB350 for £200 and the breakdown covers all three bikes. It came in handy when the old Honda gave up one day and i had to go home in a van.

The cheapest option, if possible, would be to add it to your existing policy. Failing that, try Lynbrook. They also provide recovery and, unlike CN, don’t charge an admin fee every time you change or modify a bike. They also show the premium for each vehicle, so if you sell one you can verify the refund amount, rather than having some random figure plus admin fee quoted. Comparison sites never offer the best value, especially for classic and/or modified vehicles. Cheapest maybe...till you claim.

Thats interesting to know about Lynbrook, I might give them a try when my renewal is due as it cost me £55 to add my CB350 of which £40 was an admin fee !!!

I use Peter James, includes breakdown cover and you can agreed value at no extra cost.

My two Enfields were around £100 from memory for the pair, one of which is agreed value at £7500 and I have used the brakedown cover which is included.

Thanks for all your comments, Peter James came out dearer than my new insurance on my new Enfield, Lynbrook who I had tried earlier came fairly close to what I expected , so it looks like Lynbrook gets my hard earned state pension.
