Since buying my continental gt new in 2015 there has been one thing niggling me and that is the excess side play in the rear set gear shift lever where it locates on the footpeg spigot so have finally got round to sorting it with shims fitted between the 18mm dia footpeg spigot and end face of the lever , this has totally transformed the fit and feel of gear shifting and would recommend this simple mod to other CGT owners out there. I used three shims of 4 thou (. 1mm ) giving a 12 thou pack and around 3 thou end clearance, shims were cut to 18.5 inside dia and 25.0 outside dia and they were cut from aldi beer cans so good excuse for a pint before starting!

Tin cans are great for making shims, and the thing is different cans have a different thickness . I use scissors to cut out the size and a hole punch for the centre . I must say that they are not suitable in any stress situation, side thrust etc . A good mod there Albert.
