My Euro 4 2018 model Classic 500 also has a knocking sound as you have described. I alerted the dealer to this and his comment was that it was most likely a 'noisy' decompressor. If it continued it could be adjusted. Not sure if this is true but other issues with this bike eclipsed this problem and the dealer and I had to spend too much time on what was really wrong with it. The noise is still there but I think has quietened down.

A fellow Royal Enfield Club member told me about Castrol Edge 25/50 big bore engine oil when my Bullet was noisy and consuming large amounts of oil. It slowed oil consumption and the engine did seem quieter. It is not cheap, but I think it is worth it.

Seems to be available in Australia and New Zealand but not in the UK, Leon.

AFAIK the only “adjustment” that can be made to the auto decompressor is to adjust the tickover. I doubt that this is the cause because unless it clacks on tickover increasing revs when accelerating will tend to have the opposite effect. 25-50 oil would be a bit thick for a cold engine in the U.K. and anyway it shouldn’t need it at what is presumably a low mileage. Oil burning is not a common issue with the UCE motor. Without hearing the noise it’s hard to diagnose but they are not particularly quiet engines and do make assorted noises. Has the camshaft backlash been done? I suspect not all dealers do this.

Hi again ,sorry for the time lag replying, been away.
To my knowledge cam backlash has not been checked.
And yes the noise is very similar to smile

My 2016 B4 Bullet has very noisy tappets, especially noticeable when accelerating. I just put a louder exhaust on so I couldn't hear them as much...

Seems bizarre given that the bike has hydraulic tappets, but yeah, I think it's normal for them to be noisy. My Sportster is just the same.

Unless you speak the language this is interesting but probably useless:-
