After a gret deal of poking about and chasing wires, Thumper has come to life again. Just been out for a quick thunder around the block and all is well.
A BIG thankyou to Papasmurf who suggested I might try a new battery. I fitted it today and Thumper fired up after two kicks and 9 months standing idle. The weather is truly fine here in Denmark, so it's going to be a long day tomorrow for Thumper and I.
Thanks to everyone who chipped in with knowledge and advice...

Hi Exile... good news you are back on the road. Bad batteries are a drag and the reasons for them to just go down are pure mysteries. If you prefer the gel type batteries be aware that some of don't cope well with the RE charging system. I had one type that lasted only a 1/2 year. Then I was adviced to try another type, and the next battery was good for almost 3 years. The RE charging system and batteries are a science by itself... regards Jacob
