So have learned the hard way that buying cheap EBay parts is not a good idea, the plastic "chrome" distributor cap fitted a couple years ago has broken up, as a result one of the screws has shaken loose and is lost so now have the hassle of finding another one the right size, and the foot rubbers also sourced from EBay have rotted and fallen apart, from now on the only parts going on this bike are from here.

Quite fancy the windowed distributor cap, has anyone got one and is it worth the money?

Not quite sure why our hosts came up with this one, you won't be able to see the points doing their stuff while you're riding along, and if your condenser is up to snuff you won't see many sparks with the engine running and you standing next to the bike. If you have electronic ignition there will be even less to see, mais à chacun son goût!

I think Bertie was after views on whether or not they were any use rather than finding out where to get one!

Hi Bertie---------I bought one of those plastic, chrome-plated caps from our hosts for my previous Bullet....I fitted it and immediately the bike wouldn't start !!........Star Trek's Mr.Spok ( It's a bike Jim, but not as we know it !!) logic dictates it must be something involving that which I have just done.. so I removed the new cap replaced the old cap and BINGO !!---it started first kick.....Upon closer inspection I could see that a small amount of chrome had oversprayed onto the inside face and was short-circuiting the insulated part of the cb points.....A few mins. with some fine emery and with a piece of Duct tape fitted I soon put that to rights.....
At the same time I wasn't happy with the clamping arrangements ie}--pressing that thin plastic direct onto steel so I fitted a pair of thin rubber washers inside of the cap to absorb any vibes and used a low-strength Loctite on the screw thread........

I bought one of our hosts' posh alloy points covers. The first winter I had occasional problems with starting (it wouldn't) which I thought might be due to moisture inside. I drilled a small hole in the bottom for drainage, spray with WD40 in the autumn, and haven't had any problem since.
