Good Afternoon guys, it's me again!

I'm currently trying to change the air filter from the original airbox to a conical S&B Filter.

I've removed the airbox and attached the S&B Filter no problems at all, and adjusted the mix on the mikcarb accordingly.

However, when pulling away on the bike, it seems to really struggle and almost seems choked. I have to be really careful when letting go of the clutch, as any force or weight it needs to pull seems impossibly hard. Once at speed, it also doesn't perform well.

Any opinions as to what I could check? I didn't think changing the air filter would have much of an effect...

Good afternoon to you too, if you havent enlarged the jets to match the new filter, then the setup is running far too weak. have a quick look at the online catalogue to your left, (page 14)jetting guide.tells you ball park settings then fine tune. do not attempt to run engine until sorted or you will cause damage to piston.

Did you oil them? Over oiling them can cause decidedly rough running. I don't usually bother with oil, might be worthwhile in very dusty countries though.... I'd echo what has been said above about setting up for them too.

Hello BOLOGNE,----------exactly WHAT did you do to " adjust the mix on the Mikcarb" ?? It's a whole lot more than just twiddling the primary air screw---'cos that's what your performance figures are telling me is what you've only done. Changing the air filter affects the carbs' performance across the WHOLE RANGE because air is being supplied for a performance that's across the WHOLE RANGE. As GWILLY is saying----look at our hosts jetting guide for the appropriate Mikcarb. Then there's the exhaust to consider as well--------------------------------> but you'll see that on the guide...And finally the plug might need an upgrade for the hotter burning in the combustion chamber but}--- ONE THING AT A TIME....................Softly, softly--catchee monkey !!

Hey mate. I changed the silencer (muffler if you like) without problems. Removed the PAV system without a snag. Fitted our host's engine breathing mod without a snitch. And then fitted the S+B filter. Result? Misery for weeks until ALL the jetting was changed from pilot air screw, to slide cut away, to needle valve, needle position, and finally main jet. Check out the recommendations on the left of this screen but beware as every Enfield seems to have a mind of its own (that's why we ride them?) and that'll include yours! Cheers.

Alan's right. I had to change the mainjet, needle poition, pilot jet and cutaway to get my 350 running properly after changing the silencer and filter. The bike goes so much better after the changes though, so it's time well spent.
