Had the first day out with the trafficators, all worked well until half an hour later the super(shortlife)brightleds amber lamp in the switch went. Back to base to ruin a few more trying to get them apart GRRRR! Finally setteled on the good old incandecent bulb. All worked well and off I went again.



Stopped behind a car in Pontarlier, absorbed the road signs for a few seconds, to see where else might be nice to go when 'BUMP' Kevin and I are shunted forward a few inches by a slow moving car that just used us as the brakes, slight bend in the number plate, but no other damage. I looked at the driver who just shrugged. I never had that happen to me before, and during my victory ride with the traffy's as well!




got back ok, stopped on the lawn for a moment, my boot started to slip on the wet grass, and ended up with Kevin lying on top of my leg. thank god for that, only a scratch to the black frame which I have remedied already. mud on foot peg, but at least we went down slowly. I wasn't having poor bike damaged again.




got back into barn, nearly slipped on a damp section of the wooden floor with the same right boot, and having parked Kevin and checked again for any cosmetic damage (none) took a look at my boots. I have 3 pairs all the same but somehow, all the tread was worn away on these, which just goes to show that it is not only tread on tyres that is important in keeping bike upright.



Anyway... Kevin ok, flashicators working well, and all seems good for Sunday coming, which is the Vesontio classic car (and moto) club meet. Well Kevin's got something unique to show them this time!

I was pushed once when the 1st gear of my 32' Francis Barnett jumped at a traffic light...
The sole reaction of the lady in the car before going away was "RRRR Pffff !"... Maybe didn't she like the blue haze of my beauty..
There are sometimes bad days like that. Hope you don't have bruised memories of your adventures..

A day to forget or ponder on, I've had two rear shunts, one very minor by an ambulance, the other I could hear tyres squealing behind me while waiting at traffic lights and I sort of guessed so I braced for impact, I always leave a good gap between me and the car in front, I stayed upright and stopped an inch from the car in front. A frightening moment that turned out not to bad. You are right about your boots worn or smooth soles are no good, even for pushing a bike around the yard, as you have just found out. I wear an enduro boot most of the time or a heavy duty walking boot, not always ideal in the summer.

I met my best mate in the 60's when he was a passenger in a car that deliberately bumped me when I was stationary at some lights!! Apparently the driver thought it was a laugh

I am not superstitious but I have herd of thins happening in threes so you should be ok now

Oil on boots is slithery. Worst place for that around here is one particular petrol station where the taxis splash diesel all over the place, and they do not clean it up.

I got other pairs, and those boots are now marked for non motorcycle use.



my best moto snow ski's happened at Tonbridge shell on the A227 near dry hill park road. must have been another diesel dump. i went to slow at the road, having crossed the courtyard. It was a little down hill and my feet just slowly slid along whilst the braked on Tornado did stop us, but was a very strange feeling.



Still getting used to going over yesterday. first time that has happened to me on a bike! Lift bike, leg comes out, get up and get bike up fast. Poor Kevin!
