Just got the 2006 Electra on the road today after being delivered.
Bike goes very nicely, but I seem to have a 'clattery' noise, not tappets, noy heavy enough for ends, but was wondering if it could be the PAV valve as mine is still fitted, its not like I had on my old Bullet but comes directly out of the head.
Do these make a noise?
Just checked the tappets and even though the engine is still hot they seem loose, one spins easily the other turns with a bit of pressure, as I would set it from cold, cant do anything until the engine is cold so job for tomorrow.
Cheers

Yes,the PAV can be quite noisey at times. Check that the wee 'trigger' hose is not damaged loose or leaking?

If your tappets are at all tight when hot they will be over tight when cold.

Thanks chaps, I will be checking the tappets today, also removing the windscreen as this can reflect and amplify engine noise, I've had this before.

During a hole in the rain I checked the tappets, exhaust could not be moved at all, inlet just about moveable, now set correctly it sounds a lot better, just run it to hot, nowhere near as noisy or rattley.
Looking forward to road testing, but pretty sure it will be a lot better.
