Hi all. I have just fitted a new rear tyre to my Electra X. On fitting the wheel I have noticed that the spindle nut is further on than the split pin hole, does anyone know if there is a washer between the nut and the chain adjuster. My bike has our hosts alloy chain adjuster and not the snail cam adjusters

Yes there is a washer, visually, (I have just looked after crawling over all the motorcycles in my "museum" to get to my Electra X.)to take a look it is about 1.5mm or 1/16 of an inch thick. I use R clips for such things not split pins.

Interesting, there is no washer on mine either but I can see the need for one. Can't find it in the parts book. Unless it went missing in the initial dealer services I don't think there ever was one.

Just had to take rear wheel out of my 05 Electra that i bought about a month ago after getting a puncture, i noticed that on removal of the castle nut that it was a little loose seeming to be so , so that the R clip would fit , on refitting the wheel it definitely could do with a washer under the nut so that the r clip fits properly when nut is fully tight, can't find one in the parts diagram though?

I am sure Papasmurff is right having removed the rear wheel on my 08 recently. Also a good suggestion ref R clips not split pins.

The Parts Book Online (E5/08) does show a "Spacer, Cover Plate" p/n 580309, a thick washer. There's a similar thing on the C5 which I found on the floor of the shed after reassembling the rear wheel brake ...

Papasmurf, for the '08 it is Page.39 DISTANCE COLLAR, REAR WHEEL, LH p/n 141130. It depends on year-model and the '05 is different. This part is shown for the "Rear Brake" page for each model. For the 2010 C5 the equivalent part is Washer p/n 580367.

This is in the "Parts Book Online" not the catalogue.

But I have a 2014 year-model, there was a major change ca 2012 and we know the 2015 is subtly different to the 2014 beast. The PBO does not go late enough, it needs updating. For example I have a small problem with oil filter O-rings being a different size to the older model, otoh O-rings is O-rings, you go online and buy Dowtys the right size, or nip down the motor parts shop if you have oil all over the place.

The diagrams in the Parts Book Online are very useful for showing me where the bits I've dropped are supposed to go.

Or even the Rear Wheel page, C5 equivalent is SPACER, COVER PLATE Code: 580309.
