No Hollyville Cafe report this week as spent the time rejuvenating and old magneto on a 91 year old stationary engine.

It seems to fit in well next to a Fordson Tractor.

Last year we went to buy some new bantam chickens and got talking to the old guy who was selling them. Turns out he collects and restores old tractors and stationary engines. He took me into his workshop to show me a stationary engine he was rebuilding and says he was replacing the big end and main bearings. He picked up a box to show me the bearings which were nothing more than thin pieces of waxed paper. I though he was winding me up till he showed me an original parts list. And we thought Enfields were agricultural

Hi guys---------Loving the "Interlude" but might I pass-on a useful tip to the lad swinging the starter handle ??........... Grip the handle with ALL fingers AND thumb resting on the top...Thus if the engine should back-fire the worst that happens is the handle gets snatched out of your grip without trying to break your wrist at the same time !!

Does that Fordson do that (Throw handle back)? The lad said it wound up a spring that then spun the engine? Maybe it could.



I never bother doing it properly with the lister engine. The timing is spot on, and I leave off the choke for the first two turns until the engine is going fast enough to only fire forwards. Maybe one day, it will prove me wrong!



I know it's off topic, but will do doing a longer colour film of this unique Lister with the Fordson as well. If you are interested, I will post the link when done. Did anybody spot the concrete sections of the WWII Stanton air raid shelter? 3:06 for the trial build of four sections in the garden (Hole not dug yet) and 1:48 for another pile of sections. Cost them 99p off Ebay, but a bit more to go and collect!
