Hi all ,

I have just returned from my first ride on my recently bought 350 2008 classic and noticed the speedo and small ammeter next to it steamed up during the ride .

Any idea , also what's the easiest way to take the speedo out as it's slightly offset .

Regards Reds

The 'steam' is just normal condensation caused by temperature differences between inside and outside surfaces of the glass. It's natural, don't worry about it. Once they are at the same temp., it will disappear.

I have no idea how to get the speedo unit out..

I hope for your sake it is just condensation. My wife and I did 460 miles in one day in snow, ice, fog, and p--------persistant rain on the K75S outfit and water did get into the instrument binnacle. That was a nightmare to take out and dismantle to dry it out. (Fortunately the water was only in the binnacle not the speedo or tachometer.)

It's the same as in your bathroom, warm inside, cold out, condensation on inside of window. How do you get rid of it? Open the window. If you take out the bulb holder to equalise the temp, it will go, so to make that permanent, you could leave it out, or make another hole instead.

Mine has always done the condensation thing - doesn't seem to be a problem.
The speedo is held in with a u shaped bracket. Remove headlight unit and you can get to the nuts that hold this on then it should swivel round in the rubber mount.

.... and remember when putting it back together that if the rubber is not the same thickness all the way round (the part you see when riding) it should angle the speedo slightly away from the rider. In other words, the thick part of the rubber needs to be nearer you, not at the top of the speedo. -C

Hoping less frequent changes I replaced my speedo lamp with a LED bulb. As this does not produce so much heat I've noticed the glass gets steamed more easily. Eventually clears up, though.
