Sorry, black is the only colour for a motorcycle frame. As to the tank etc. you won't go wrong sticking to the traditional "machinery" colours.

RE were actually pretty advanced on the colouration front. They used metallic colours when they were first introduced in the 1950's and the in 51 the frame was painted the same colour as the bike according to Roy Bacon at any rate. After that they went back to black frames for the Bullets. The Meteors were painted a variety of colours and I've seen one in metallic bronze fame and all. I've painted mine a light metallic blue with a silver panel either side of the tank picked out with a double red fine line which I think looks very fetching and if purists don't like it, well they'll just have to look away.

This was the 51 which is now in the hands of a new owner but I thought the matching frame was rather a good look.

Colours like Bottle green are quite unique, but tend to be
translucent and need plenty of prep. as do the the metalics
so dig deep get a professional. I agree with the black frame
simply for touch up expidency when you've chipped same from
reassembling. Have used that John Deere vibrant green like
the colour of Simon's lathe once that looke3d dynamite w/ back.
Simon, nice memory amongst your pixs of that deep black tanked
Berini cycle motor one once had at 15 to help
glide past savage farm dogs late at night coming home from my
Drive In movie job in Aust. bush way back.

Scalyback it looks like you have nicked a picture of my super meteor there (top pic). Its about identical apart from the small fact yours appears to be in one piece and mine is in hundreds at the min!!!!! I do love the burhgundy. But am chroming my mudguards over the winter and painting the burhgundy stripe down the middle. Ed

Rode for miles on the Berini Cyclemotor this weekend as both big bikes are in bits. Fortunately splendid Hitchcocks super fast service means my parts for the Bullet are now in hand after just on one week.
