I might need to replace my rear tyre soon. The current K70 has worn very smooth in the centre after a total of 12834km's (7970mls). This seems about average for a well used bike, but the post's here, in the archives, show differing opinions on this K70. The front was matched in January this year to good effect, with the horrible but cheap, Cheng Shing ribbed tyre only being binned due to the wobbling around doughnuts in the wet! It wasn't really worn at all after some 15,000km's, and would probably outlive me!
An AM26 on an 18" rim might be the next to try out (see my other recent post today).

I've just fitted a new K70 to my Interceptor 1A after the one I bought it with also wore in the centre. I've no complaints and they look so right on an Interceptor.

I use the Dunlop K70 on my 350 bullet. I am a big fan and they are good grippy tyres and would recommend them to anyone. The downside is the tyre life is not good, I replaced my rear after 4,000 ish, I am not a tear arse and can only put this down to the rough state of the country lanes on my daily commute but I did not hesitate to replace it with another K70.

The K70 is quite a soft compound tyre so it will work well, excellent grip, but the downside is fairly low mileage.I recently tried to get a pair for my Triumph but they no longer make the size required so I've now got a pair of Dunlop K82. This is the same tread pattern as the older TT100/K81 and I have to say I've been very impressed, cornering feels safe, no problems on white lines - unlike the previous Contimentals - they feel secure in the wet and very reasonable pricewise at £60 something each including the Vodka And Tonic. I only hope they last longer than TT100's which I used to wear out in less that 1500 miles.

By the way, nearly 8,000 miles on a K70 is pretty amazing. My last Bullet used to eat one every 3 - 3 1/2 thousand miles!

Some good positive views noted. I've no problems with the rear K70 in all conditions. I run at 32 psi (28 up front) and thought this might have accelerated the wear! But maybe nearly 8,000mls is about par, just a shame that the other 75% left across the tread is quite deep. I do carry some extra kit, always, and that adds some weight but nowhere near equivalent to a pillion. Good value too. Only brought the subject up to look at any alternatives as this and the original factory rear are the only two to be tried thus far with this bike.

Your original thought of an AM26 isn't at all bad, my '05 Electra-X is very happy on them and so is my Redditch-framed bitsa. By the way, whereabouts in the Garden of England are you?

Don't waste k70's fast wearing rubber on motorways, dual carriageways and A roads. For grip on B,C,D roads with potholes, cow shit, and gravel they are the best. Or alternatively Mitas c180, if I remember correctly, these are K 70 replicas, identical in every aspect except price.

If I didn`t get at least 25000kms from an Avon, I`d be very grumpy.
