I have had a vague and snatchy front brake for a while - it also squealed a lot, despite several strip and clean outs.
I had wondered if the return springs were up to the job, so I've just replaced them with some quite significantly stronger ones from the junk box.... wow, I now have a smooth and progressive brake, which also feels firmer on the lever. Hope this may help someone....

No idea if it will help But i have same problems, so I damn well going to try it.

I used to have to pull away open the throttle and apply the front brake at the same time for a few yards until the brake started to work correctly. Not once a week, but every morning!
