as you may recall, I am the yank who rebuilt a 350 Bullet. have finished the break in period and the bike is running great, however it climbs hills like a three legged dog. I live in the mountains in upstate Nevada and have a lot of hills to climb. on a flat I can get the bike up to 65mph, but when climbing hills I have to keep it in 3rd gear and the bike will slow to 45mph. Is this all I should be expecting out of this motor? I did put an alloy cylinder and 8:1 piston, along with competition valve set up. I also have a newer 500 EFI and it climbs hills without difficulty.

Hi Dean, it is a 350 and they run out of puff on hills. Some people fit close ratio gearset to bring 3rd closer to 4th

Yes, 350s are not mountain goats. If your speed figures are correct it's doing well.

The 350 is basically a 60 years old design and it's an old plodder. The EFI is a very new engine. There are not too many 60 year olds running up mountains, leave it to the youngsters.
