Hi guys--------- DENNIS, this has been covered fairly recently on this forum but to help you out PAV = Pulsed Air Valve and it's purpose is to inject extra air into the exhaust gas thus weakening it and "fooling" an emissions test "sniffer" into thinking the exhaust is cleaner than it actually is..Have a look at this }------- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Air_suction_valve --------- The thin pipe coming from the bottom of your inlet manifold is the Trigger or Sensor pipe whilst the large, steel pipe entering the exhaust downpipe just after it exits the cylinder, carries the air charge from the valve itself...

----------- ADDITIONAL}---- that should have read........" dilutes the exhaust gasses" rather than weakens it (So as not to get confused with carb fuel/air ratios etc.)
