After ordering a used "long neck" 15/16" Amal 276 from Mr. H. and looking over the remains of worn 1-1/16" 276 I have in my garage, I am on my way to rebuild a complete, original carb for my Model G. The worn and too big carb that I have still have some useful parts, but some may need some work. Take the float, for instance: .-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.- The float is of the old brass type, it has no leaks, but is dented all around the top from (excessive?) use of the tickler. I.e. I think the tickler will not work properly as it will hardly touch the float. Does anyone know how to fix this? .-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.- Obvoiusly I can't fill the dents with epoxy or solder, that increases the weight. How about heating it until the pressure inside pops the dents out? (... or more likely crack a soldered joint!) .-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.- I Wish the float was symmetrical, then I could just turn it upside down! .-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.- Stupid question maybe, I know. I can just buy a new one at £24, but that's takes some of the fun out of fixing old things, and the carb is going to be expensive enough as it is. .-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.- Regards, Anders F.
