About 18 months ago I fitted my '89 350 with a disc brake to replace the TLS which had in turn replaced the standard SLS.
At the time, many people on this board predicted disaster with the fork cracking or collapsing.
I just thought you might all be interested to know that nothing of the sort has happened so far. The brake performs as well as the TLS at its best, but doesn't need frequent attention to keep it on form

Hi JON R ----------about 3 years ago I also changed a Bullet 65 twin shoes for a disc and NEVER regretted it at all !!...... sawing the aluminium lug off the L/H slider was no problem and all went OK. My current 2005 Classic 500 also has a disc--- again NO problems just a good, reliable and easy to service braking system. So that's two of us happy and with good things to say about Enfields on this forum !!

I have done 30,000ks on my crosbred since I fitted Bullet lower legs and the disc from the Electra no problems but I'm not hard on the brakes, got 40,000ks out of the first set of disc pads

Hi GRUNDA matey !! Hey, this smacks of ----------"ORIGINAL THINKING"----------------- Don't let the Bureaucrats in Brussels get a whiff of this or the Thought Police (with their brain-scan camera vans.... you've been caught thinking too fast for your own good !!!!)will be requisitioning your front door (sign here please, in triplicate.).....So,will this beasty be a parallel twin----Vee Twin OR, by way of a REAL challenge, a horizontally opposed twin ??? ...... And will it have a disc brake fitted ?? That's just to keep within the thread parameters.

Paul I hope you don't hang about with the new dizzydoodoo. I expect you to bring it to Madmikes gathering in April/May next year. Do you want me to book the "camp site" again when I set the date in January?
