Anybody know what is the correct spark plug for these, I have gone through the online manual I have and with 57 pages of info not a mention about the spark plugs

Norm, in my '49/'52 500 twin
ignition timing query you had
kindly answered a day or two
ago, I had wondered the same.
Our host's manual gives KLG 50
Champion L10 which is NGK BH5
for both the the early 500 and
700 twin. Yorkie must had access
to a Champion manual which said
the same thing. Someone perhaps
may update this somewhat with
contemporary unleaded gasolines
or multi-grade oils used now

Thanks Gordon, no idea what a KLG 50 is but we have 2 of them here and they were/are fitted with KLG B7HS I wanted to be sure before I replace these NGK's which are 2 weeks old and one is misfiring and making starting a problem. I will not be replacing them with NGK

Sorry, Norm, sloppy typing.
meant KLG F50 which were as
common as NGK once way back.
Champion L10 still around are
as common as house flies.
The NGK equivalent is B5HS.
Would think NGK B7HS was near
enough meanwhile, but remember
duds when I used dozens with
several Suzuki GT750 years ago.

I went through 6 or 7 NGK plugs in my Bullet last year on our trip around Tasmania which took 5 days. and probably wasn't much more than a 1000ks

I have just put some Champion L10's in mine, seem to be ok (other than the left one oiling up due to the problems previuously mentioned!!)

Norm,the correct plugs for the 500 twin and 700 Meteor are

Champion L10 or KLG F50,gapped at 18/20 thou" NGK B6HS = L10

NGK B5HS = F50

If you are fitting NGK B7HS,these are too cold and will not self-clean,hence

your plug fouling and misfire.Pilot error!!

I couldn't get the Champion plugs so I went with another option Bosch W7AC and life is now good again in Meteor land

Just out of interest, my 1953 Meteor had been sitting since 1966 and upon restoration I found it had KLG F70 plugs in it. I was wondering if there was a particular reason for this?
