This is how I bought my 359 RE. Just some of the bits and pieces that I was unloading into my garage.

Sorry I meant 350 Royal Enfield. My picture came out ok and I think that I will be able to post all right from now on. Your picture came out ok John M. That looks to be an early model crank case of the same vintage as my 350 cases. Still with the pressure relief valve at the front and the brass bush where the timing shaft comes out. It's a whole new ball game with pictures and much better than trying to describe something. One thing is that with all the parts of RE that I bought every thing was there with a mixture of English and Indian I just had to put it all back together again. A steep learning curve but one way to find out about the inner workings of the famous Royal Enfield motorcycle. I suppose that my motorcycle when it was first made in 1964 would have been called just Enfield or Enfield India.

Nicely turned-out there matey !!-----------She/he ?? it's a "looker" all right and no mistake.....Any chance you could post a few images of the bike actually at the Dam itself ??...........Reason is that I'm planning a ride-out to the Lake Vernwy dam ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lake_Vyrnwy ) on Sunday and then later I could post a few shots of The Red Baron in similar pose--------- but half a world away !!.......Cheers !!

Hi Alan R

Tomorrow is Saturday and if the weather is nice (we are just coming out of our winter) I will ride back up to the dam and get some more shots of my motorcycle over looking it. If you google Cethana Dam North West Tasmania Australia you will see pictures of the area. It is a Hydro Electric Dam and is used to generate power. Anyway I will see how I go tomorrow.

Hi Binary

My eldest son lives in Tassie, and he and his family are off this weekend to Cradle Mountain which I don't think is a million miles from the Dam?

Great countryside !!

Hi oldboy67. Cradle Mountain is only about 45 miles further on from Cethana. I worked there during 2 tourist seasons some years ago. It is a nice place but getting very commercialised now. It seems that every tourist in Tasmania ends up there sooner or later. Lots of motorcycle groups visit there during the summer. They had a lot of snow this past winter with the snow ploughs working 2, 12 hour shifts to keep the road clear over one weekend. Our best riding weather is from mid December until mid April and then the winter comes back again. It is a great island to live on with very good riding roads every where. I had to do a small job on my RE today, and tomorrow I am riding it to Cethana again and on to the towns of Sheffield, Railton,Latrobe and Ulverstone back home again. A very nice ride with a variety of slower roads just suited for the Royal Enfield motorcycle.

Alan R went back to Cethana dam today to take some pictures only to find the whole place locked up. I was not able to go in and get a photo of my motorcycle near the dam. What I have is a bit pathetic but it is all that I could do. Your Lake Vernwy Dam looks a million times better. I had a look at it and it is like something that the Romans may have built. Cethana Dam on the other hand is strictly utilitarian with no thought as to any aesthetic appeal, just water spinning a turbine to make power.Image

Hi BINARY------fancy shutting the Dam when people want to visit it !!...Perhaps you could start a "Biker's Tea & Burger bar" ??

Had a good, quiet run out to Shrewsbury---Welshpool----Lake Vyrnwy and return with a stop at "Dinky's Diner" both outwards and return ( https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Restauran ... bury_Shrop )......
