Jefrs, I have no idea what you were talking about in your first paragraph, being only barely able to use a computer at the most basic level. (Some may think I'm overstating my abilities.) But fair play to you and others who use this forum, for being more competent than myself. I do however agree with the sentiments of your second paragraph, that is, it might just be easier to use if it's brought up to date. As for smiley faces, I find them a bit childish. If you've written something tongue in cheek just say so. It would be nice to write easily in paragraphs.( I know,---use the pointy brackets and "br", but I can never remember which way round or whether to "br" first. To me it's just another complication.) Also I would like, occasionally, to put a picture on here. I've managed to do this in the past but without regular practice I find it a skill which is difficult to master. If it could be made so that all the basic functions were no more complicated, and some new features could be performed simply, by the less technically minded of us that would be good.

Guys. I live far away and use our hosts site as the first computer step of the day (yes, I know, a bit lame) and I need it to work with the minimum of thought. So please don’t change it again.
I have learned to always type a post/thread in Word first in order to get it right (well, mostly anyway), then copy/paste into the site. Anyway, I like seeing the odd typo words that appear, some extremely apposite.

Scaleyback and others – thanks for your instructions on so many things.

So please leave it alone I find it quirky and full of information and a friend when all around me is collapsing (South Africa).
Cheers, ChrisD
PS but I do agree with the suggestion to improve the search function.

Judging by the length of time since this thread was started it seems obvious that nowt is likely to be agreed upon or to change.(insert suitable emoji here; I simply refuse to type LOL, it's so last decade and is like laughing at your own unfunny jokes). For my part I have no intention of learning HTML, largely obsolete now, though I could do having mastered far more difficult programs and applications. To those who insist on being stuck in the comfort zone of being happy with what they know I say that unless you try something better you will never realise that actually many forums are much easier to use and are pretty intuitive. You don't need to get under the bonnet as with HTML here, you just drive. I don't care much whether or not it is updated as there is at least one other useful forum for the UCE models that is much less frustrating to use though you do have to pass the Kaptcha test to be admitted........
