Just agreeing with -- and adding to REVBAND if I may ?------When you cram extra fuel/air mix into a a cylinder ( in this case that extra 35cc ) and then compress it more than Standard ie by using a higher Compression Ratio, you cannot use the original ignition timing figure but should in fact RETARD it ....... This is to do with flame speed during combustion being quicker because the fuel/air molecules are packed closer together and thus require less burning time......If you set the timing to the Enfield's normal published figure you would have been setting it over advanced for the new scenario !!....A twin or triple electrode plug would be of advantage here with maybe a grade or two hotter ???.........Again, given the extra 35cc of demand being asked by the new set-up then keeping to the old VM28 would act as a slight restriction.......The incoming air velocity would be higher over the main jet which, at 125 is ok for the 500cc engine but is too small for our new needs...Either of these two factors will give you a weak mixture..... A 30mm carb would have been better...Finally on page 29 of the current catalogue our hosts say this}---" will also complement the tuned cyl. heads that we offer ".........On a forum such as this we, your fellow riders, can only offer our advice ( and that's all it is really ) at a distance and without the benefit of having met you....So I hope all that }--- Pappasmurf, Revband, Gwilly, Leon, ric, Tim NZ, Bullet Whisperer, dave P, ed.lazda, binary, Leon Novello, scotty and some dorkhead called Alan R have written will be of some use ??------------PS}-- Yes, you should have fitted a compression plate --or two in and opted for TORQUE rather than REVS via a high CR...............And we haven't even mention different fuels and additives yet !!......

Photobucket have deleted my pictures of the pistons, apparently they want money now to use their site for posting them on forums. I am posting this through Tinypic, which is a part of Photobucket. These broken pistons happened to older models also.

As if I've not got enough RE problems without now worrying about pistons.

Think I'll go back to Triumphs.
