My apologies ... line 4 should read 'chemically derived from ethylene, C2H4'. Ethane is C2H6

I'll second that; most informative. One informed opinion is worth 1,000 ill-informed ones. As I suspected, the oil specified by RE seems to have more to do with their tie-in than any specific requirement. After all, the engine is not that unusual in how it is lubricated. When I've exhausted my supply of Motul I'll switch to Castrol, same as my Triumph, though I'll probably experiment with the viscosity range. One again, many thanks zonggong. This should be a sticky.

I once came across information which said that EFI engine was designed and developed using (Motul) 15w50 grade oil.
