Thanks for all the advice.The gear is now off.I left the puller on for a day then gave it a sharp tap on the side of it and the gear popped off.So did not have to get heavy handed with it after all.

Once the distributor is off it can be upgraded to the sixty-5 unit which has ball races not bushes.😀
