3TA = 18.5bhp, Navigater = 22bhp, T90 = 27bhp I think the T90 would be at the front, ;-)

I'm obviously out of date Dennis. It USED to be relatively easy to tune to T90 specs but, thinking about it, that would have been 30 years ago ;-)

27 horse out of a 350 is fairly impressive. Did they last long? I know the BSA Starfires produced similar power (25.8 bhp) out of a 250 but they were reputed to be a fairly temporary pleasure.

Yes Simon they are just fine, I have had mine for about 30 years, I restored it then including luckily with a rebore and some correct pistons, it is the sort of bike which revs freely and begs to be thrashed, so I thrash it, not all the time but?, it is regularly cruised at motorway speeds and still makes the 90 mph which gave it the name.

The 3TA can still be tuned, but you will need the correct HC pistons, a pair of E3134 camshafts,a T90 head and a different carb. People used to just fit the HC pistons and think it was done.

My '63 Tiger 90 (63 was the 1st year of production)is a super little bike, second only to the Ducati desmo single in my all time favourite bikes to ride. It has none of the bad vibrations of the biger twins - or singles - and is a nice motor that has quite a turn of speed if you give it the revs. Look at the the 3TA as the sensible docile one. Spares are cheap and plentiful and the engines, being unstressed are really reliable but if they do go pop, they are childishly simple to work on. Highly reccomended imho.

My T90 is probably at the top of the "wish I'd never sold it" list. I needed the money as I was about to get married. Good choice though, the wife is definitely a keeper😁
