Presto is right that you might get more life out of a tank but my experience is based on a friend's GT who got through 3 tanks in a year, all lined with different products. Eventually he cut one open and the cause is clear, the heat involved in the curing of the epoxy liner causes bubbles which either pop during curing or eventually during use. The fuel then gets behind the liner and attacks the glassfibre. Some older liners are not ethanol proof in the first place, I have one in my Meteor tank that was done about 20 years ago and that's lifting now. Alloy tanks of very high quality (which is what he's got now,) are available both from our Hosts and elsewhere.

Sure, we always knew Cleveland Discol, and National Benzol, as ‘dry’ petrols; my ‘mentor’ always told me to avoid them and go for a ‘wet’ petrol ideally BP or Shell. Those were the days!...

If in doubt Google it.

"Cleveland Discol" - an alcohol fuel. This was a blend of distilled alcohol (ethanol) and refined petrol and was regarded as a superior petrol. "Discol" was the trade mark of the Distillers Company Ltd. The other well known brand was "Cleveland Benzole Mixture". Benzole was a mixture of a coal-tar product and petrol and was sold between the wars by various companies under a variety of trade names.
