Davie - ignore the negativity. Norm and Alan R are unquestionably very knowledgeable but I am reminded of my old man who is an outstanding engineer but who looks for problems rather than seeing the objective. I bought an 04 classic iron barrel Bullet and thrashed the pants off it, taking it up to the north of Scotland and more, doing 5000 miles last year. It was properly looked after and broke down, a few times, but only due to electrical shorts caused by the previous owner fitting an ill-fitting side panel that cut through wires due to vibration. It was a blast, went like stink, sounded like a british battleship firing on whoever, and was wonderful to ride. I often thumped along with a wide smile thinking this is great, this is great, with loads of people willing to chat and admire. I sold it in Oct only to reduce the collection down to two bikes - then regretted it and promptly bought the last EFI Woodsman in the UK as I wanted something more reliable (less maintenance, economy and so on so I could ride without thinking about things needing done so much). Bullets whether they be classic or Efi are Bloody brilliant bikes all round. Prior to the Enners I had three Hinckley trumpets - great bikes but fundamentally dull. No tweaking or twiddling required but despite long trips I found myself yawning. I have had Velos and currently a Norton Atlas and Sunbeam S8. I wont go back to modern bikes as such, by that I mean Hinckleys - let alone any other brand. Something about Enfields that get to you, and I suspect you are bitten - so just do it, don't worry it will be fine. Come back to the forum for technical questions or more, and the guys here are great. At the end of the day, those that post negatives, or problems - well, they still have Enfields. Why? Because they like them.
