Thanks for all the replies - Yes I probably whent a bit rough over the gravel roads before it all happened. It was a matter of testing the new Continental TK 80's I just had fitted - fantastic off road. Yes - the suspension bottomed out several times and I actually adjusted the rear shocks a bitt stiffer to eliminate this. When I get my bonus towards the end of this year I will definetly upgrade the rear shocks to Hagons or someting similar for the interim I had to spend my hard earned cash on a new chain and sprocket. I will post some picks over the weekend when I put the whole thing togheter.
For the bracket itself I was thinking on installing a bracket on both sides of the frame and cylinder head with perhaps some rubber washers inbetween to absorb any flex and vibrations?

Hi Alan, And I thought it had flown under the radar that we didn't do too well in the Ashes and I wasn't going to mention it, but at least we beat the Scots on their home ground lol. As for the head steady I'm not sure if the tank still bolts there but you have to be careful not to put pressure on the tank brackets because they will crack. The tank needs to be a good fit over whatever spacers/headsteady you fit unless you want to weld the tank up later

Hi guys------------- Yes, you're quite right about the tank mountings...........I made and fitted this "riser" bracket which also has rubber washers incorporated within the clamping parts-------------------------------- Image

I managed to make up a bracket from an old tool I had laying around - was almost impossible to drill a hole in it - very hard, yet still slightly flexible.
