I'm with Stu and Paul here. I think with the quality of components and at only a few hundred quid more than most of the EFI range it looks very good value for money. I read on the David Blasco site (I think) that the bike was very comfortable at the 75mph mark which means motorways do not have to be avoided. With the strong rumour that Yamaha will be importing the SR400 (sadly not an SR500) it is happy days for us lovers of big(ish) singles.

yes the frame will be capable of taking a larger engine , 1000cc diesel I don,t think so! , there is no tax advantage (in the UK) on diesels , nor is there any call for diesel in the USA.

the home market (india) also suffers from cc/tax problems , hence the glut of 125s, a 350 bullet is classed as large , and a 500cc is only available to the rich

notice the lack of tri/bsa bikes (350 upwards) in india , 1000s were exported , but very few people run them

The handling was fine. Cruising at 70mph was easy. It had good low down grunt. The riding position is not as 'hard core' as it looks - the bars are quite high and the rear sets not too far back, you can ride for a long distance no problem. The only thing I didn't like was the rev limiter, not something that would bother most riders. I thrashed the nuts off it for testing purposes of course ;-) and kept getting caught out by the rev limiter - killing the fun.
I written a full tale for the next issue of The Royal Enfield comic issue 8. Stacks of good photographs too. I'll post a link to it near the time. There are some of the press bikes at dealers right now. I don't know if they are offering test rides, but if you can get a ride then go for it.
To be honest it changed my opinion of new UCE Royal Enfields, and yes I would buy one! Love to hear other opinions.
