He thought he'd lost all the oil pressure (scary, tbh!) so he put out an emergency call and landed in a field! Caused some embarrassment when the RAF recovery team turned up because there was actually nothing wrong with it.

Apparently the Sea King helicopter in its Royal Navy version had some suspect hydraulics with a weak back up system.
I have always wondered why when a Sea King had a hydraulics problem. (I live near RNAS Culdrose, ) it always did an emergency landing near a pub.

Every hydraulic system I’ve ever known is suspect! Landing near a pub dates back to the days prior to mobile phones.

Really?? Was that before the helecopter in the pub.

Ille have another look. Now- what was i doing.

OK Cranky here's the HOT figures.
After 20 miles of fairly hard riding I got the following.
Oil temp 80C
Oil pressure @ 50 in top - 35 psi (my usual cruising speed)
Oil pressure @ 60 in top - 45 psi
Oil pressure @ 70 in top - 50 psi
Bumbling along at 30 in fourth - 20 psi
At tick-over it barely registered on the gauge but it is a 0-300 instrument and not designed for such low pressures.
The slightest blip of the throttle popped it up to 20 psi.
I think I'm good?
