I have an enfield WDCO. I also have an Ariel WNG
The enfield cruises around 50mph.
Fairly mechanically quiet and pretty much the same as the later indian 350 "classic" apart from the magneto/dynamo system.
You need a decent magneto, otherwise your life will be hell.
It is by no means a bad bike.
Having to remove the timing cover and lose a ton of oil is a real pain but hey ...
Enfields are generally cheaper than the equivalent Ariel/BSA/Triumph. I guess the plain big end is seen as a problem but they use them in modern bikes and the enfield has two gauzes and a filter which the others don't.
It's handy that Hitchcocks stock most bits. If it's a 50's swingarm, then parts are even better.
