An over-length screw can always be trimmed back.

Just checked, the badge screw is 2BA and the one that holds on the chrome panel is 1/4" BSF x 5/16". That's from the Parts Books.

Actually I’m not re fitting the badges, it’s a mongrel I’m building on a budget based on a ‘55-ish pre-unit Clipper which will eventually emerge in trials-ish trim. The tank is off a Prince because it’s a nice shape, cheap and sound (but not necessarily in that order!). I wanted the thread info so I can fit blanking screws which will hopefully not be too obvious when the RE transfers are applied to the newly painted tank...
