Adrian, point #2, the stub to the back of the timing chest is a drain for the catch can, not a breather. I agree, however that the whole system should be scrapped.

So, either or both of - too much oil in the tank and a whole or partial blockage of the breather pipe can cause the problem? The mayonnaise issue is amplified by lots of idling while stationary and short runs.

the oil ways are defiantly clear as ive said ive striped the motor completely 3 times now & been through every oil gallery each time just to be sure. ive only been putting 2 liters of oil in which has been fine before, ive done 4500 mls on it before the problem first happened & the problem started 200 mls after i last serviced it. it also has no airbox so the gearbox breather was just a pipe the back of the bike (worked fine before) that now gos to a catch tank since this started. how do i add pics or video on here so i can show you ?

On a standard unmodified Electra X any over filling is very obvious as it ends up being fed back into the air filter, and generally blowing out all over the place.
2 litres for an oil change us just too much EXCEPT for the first fill on a rebuilt engine.
The most oil I have ever been able to drain out of the engine of my Electra was 1.4 litres. Which is the amount I refilled it with.

Grown men who are very skilled have ended up in tears because of the overfilling problem.

Sorry mickt, but I can see that because I don't use Facebook for reasons of personal security.

well ive checked the oil level again even though i new it was correct & ive drained some out so its now at the bottom of the dip stick just to be sure & its exactly the same. ive cracked off all the banjo bolts on the pipe from the oil filter to the rockers & loosed the sump bolts that have the gause filters to check flow all good ive even removed the oil pump covers & run the bike to check flow there & all seems to be pumping round fine but still a ton of pressure coming out the tank !!

But how are you checking the level? (Which is why I referenced the instructions issued by Enfield India in the thread.)

If you put in two litres that is 0.7 of a litre too much.
