Thanks Yorkie, I did that when fitting, then set 2-3mm play at lever, which is about 1/8th inch I'm sure, so hopefully I'll see a bit of life from this cable......I set cable using adjuster at gearbox, and would plan to use adjuster at lever to take up any cable stretch, which I think I read on a previous post or instruction sheet somewhere.

Alex, i have to the same job. Any tips?
Did you need to remove the fuel tank? I'm not sure whether i can feed the cable through.

Lee, I think I have answered this elsewhere (in your own thread?) - I managed to drag the cable out with the seat off but tank in place. I then replaced the cable in a position where it can be changed without removing anything, so it comes out of the gearbox, behind the black rounded ended toolbox (Electra X), up and over between the seat edge and the airfilter box, under the tank/frame above the engine, using the curved cable bracket which hangs off the bottom of the frame as a support. It then loops round the headstock and through the headlamp casquette to the lever. It was the first time I'd done this, and it took about an hour, so fairly straightforward.......one other suggested route seems to be down the front of the frame, and I assume under the engine to curve upwards to the gearbox, but I didn't try this. Good luck!
