Many thanks as always for all the useful info. I'll try ACF 50 today as the poor bike is used daily and is a tad furry ! Merry Christmas....PS, any thoughts on the UK release of the Himalayan ? I thought of converting my bike into more of an off road bike via Hitchcocks trials kit, but this new bike might be just the RE for me.

How many hours have we all spent with Nitromoors in hand stripping laquer from nearly new jappers because the engines looked so shite? Bikers have been using an oily rag since the dawn of biking and it will easily clean off when you want it too.

a l eddie Because of Health and Safety modern Nitromors has had the active ingredients removed and its about as effective as KY jelly. I've just tried to strip a tank ready for painting and in the end had to resort to the Black and Decker and wire brush. PS There are other paint stripping products available, but they're all as useless as Nitromors.

For sale, one partially used tin of proper Nitromors, to go with the tin of original Redex (aka destroyer smoke screen agent) and tin of carbon tetra - really powerful cleaning agent. Oh, and for the decorators amongst you, a half full tin of oil based wood paint. Anyone got some 5* to exchange?

I have some REAL red hermetite, far superior to the red bathroom silicone they sell today. And some proper Creosote. You can probably get 100 octane 5* at your local airfield. I regularly used to fill my 900SS Ducati at Biggin Hill, she was 11.5:1 and could n't run on much else.

Racksy - I've used a product called 'Belgom', I think it's German.

You lather it on & give it a good rub, after which the alloy goes black.
Then you polish it off rather like Autosol it can bring the alloy up to a mirror like finish but leaves a wax layer to protect the metal.

Cool stuff but it needs a good shake/stir up before use!
