Not sure putting gloop into a tube is a very good idea - extra mass to the revolving wheel, unbalances it and puts additional strain on the bearings. Discuss.

My problem with sealing goops is that they seal up small punctures. A good thing you might think but the nail, or whatever caused the puncture, is still present and may go on to cause more damage to the tube/tyre. They do nothing for large punctures of course so except as a get you home measure I can't see the point.

Sealing gloop in a tube is not a good idea as some have said. Age 17, (yes I can remember it), Royal Enfield Crusader sports 5 speed box flat out with a passenger 80ish mph and the rear tyre blew due to a nail in the tyre, gloop sealed until the tube split, very nasty.

So, nut backed off so you can spot any tyre creep. If the tube does move (more than a bit) do you take off the tyre and put the tube back to where it should be?

Just let the tyre down and move it back, no need to remove it unless someone has foolishly used the wrong type of lubricant to fit the tyre. Then use the correct pressure and it shouldn't move again.

Leon, which Workshop Manual do you have? Do you have a link to it? Because the "2010" Manual says 18/28psi on p.02-7 just like the Owners Handbook. Whereas Avon give 27/29psi for the Road Riders, and yes, the higher Avon pressures work a lot better.

Surely not again Bryan, funny thing is last one I remember jefrs was arguing with me that Enfield's advice was correct and Avon were wrong and didn't understand old bikes, how thing change?, nowt so funny as folk.

jfrs: Unfortunately, I have sold the trusty steed a few weeks ago, weep! All I can show is the picture of the Handbook and Workshop manual which went with the Bullet, sob! wipes eyes and blows nose.
