T conclude this post. You were right - faulty starter solenoid! Easily fixed by my local good guys, Fire fox, Keighley; parts from Hitchcocks. Thanks for your advice. P.S. Slightly off topic - they also fitted H's braided brake hose and pads. A real improvement and well worth the money. Also I can also heartily recommend the little mirror extensions (Part no. 92601) which I fitted some time ago. Worth their weight in gold! Cheers, Stephen.
