Perfectly true but if you look at it from the point of view that you press the button and it does not start pulling the clutch may do the trick, I all ways use the kick start to free the clutch when the bike has been standing but as my electric start works ok so that's what I use

Hi all, thought I better update the thread so it doesn't seem like I'm being rude after getting some great advice...


It turns out my battery is knackered but even with a new one I'm not getting a spark from the plug.

I took it to the garage today as I fear I'm out of my depth with it now so is in their hands. After a couple of hours I got a call from them asking who had been let loose on the wiring as there are wires spliced into wires with electric tape all over the place! I presume it was the alarm that was put in at the dealership they were talking about because no one else has touched it.

Anyway, by the end of the afternoon they were tracing wire after wire and had still not found the fault. Although he did tell me that the neutral switch was faulty/broken.

The trouble is, I never know if a garage is taking their time over nothing or not?


I recently started another thread entitled 'electric start not working' and the conversation seems to be carrying on over there so I think it best for me just to update that thread from now on to avoid repetition repetition and confusion.

Hopefully they are not doing all their testing on the side stand. When you say garage do you mean Enfield dealer? Others may not be familiar with the side stand switch cutting the spark. I would clarify that.

Frank, I couldn't get it to a dealership in the time frame that I needed it done by so I made a decision to go with a garage to get it on the road with the view to taking it to the dealership to check all the wiring in the near future.

Thanks for the point made, I'll clarify with them to check the side stand.
