Thanks for the replies. I think I will try a couple of new plugs and will try a hotter one and see how it goes. At least if it need a standard grade I won't have lost much trying a hotter one

Adrian, I still run the standard everything and have never had any problems, no debate on plugs, jet sizes, filter types etc. Gets a bit boring actually, all I do is ride it and polish it!

I think our hosts' catalogue has been too great a temptation in many cases. There my be something to be said for leaving well alone, but I haven't managed it yet.

Champion N4C is the equivalent of NGK B7ES if you want a slightly hotter plug, but a different brand. I have one in the Bullet.

Well what an eejit I was. I eventually went back to the beginning starting with fitting the throttle cable. So off with the carb top and there it was a 1st year apprentice error. In my haste to get it back together I managed to get the throttle cable fitted off to one side of the clip that holds the needle and consequently the needle was raised by a good 3mm. To be honest Im suprised it ran. So put it back together properly and a quick run top warm it up and a tweek of the mixture screw and touch wood it seems to be running ok
