I've always used the Silkolene Comp 4 (15-50) stuff our hosts peddle and have never had any clutch slip or drag problems on my Electra EFI. Nice and light action too. I'm sure you're right PeteF yer don't need all that car slippy stuff they put in for our bikes.
I guess the idea of putting "half a coke can" in after an oil change makes sense as at least the primary drive gets a bit of lub straight away. Can't do much harm although I've never done it.

As Clive said... and it only really is needed if you use the 'tip the bike to drain old oil' method or if you have taken the primary cover off. BTW the 'half coke can' is not an accurate measure, but it is takien from the total amount you are putting back in. IE don't fill the bike with the correct oil amount into the oil filler, then add more to the primary side. Instead, leave about half a coke can's worth of the total correct amount of oil for the left hand side casing. The filler hole for it is the big roughly 18mm(?) plug above the gear change lever. And it's not so much as the primary dirve getting some lube straight away, but the sprag clutch (which sits directly below and behind the left hand side filler) that gets some...
