Hi Alan,
I'm aware that I will lose 1 mm on each cut, but I don't think this will be a problem. I originally thought it would, but the Jack Gray article recomended repairing it with JB and that then got me thinking that if the washer was fitted in 2 pieces and then held solid with the JB the motor has the potential to continue for a long time. If it doesn't work I guess it would mean I would have to strip it down which is where I am at now anyway so I think it is worth a chance, nothing much to loose except another timing chain, and the only reason the chain broke was because the washer had about 1/3 of it break off which was enough to get out through the missing section of the case. As long as the JB bonded to the washer it has no chance of coming out again.Without pulling the heads off and untill I get a new chain I won't be able to tell if it has damaged a valve or 2
